Associates in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery was founded in 1978 by two friends who grew to know and respect each other during their years of medical and surgical training. Dr. vonWerssowetz and Dr. Eyssen share a desire for excellence and a philosophy based on meeting the total needs of patients. They also share an attitude that their practice should be friendly, compassionate and an altogether pleasant experience for patients and employees.
Dr. Christopher W. Chase is a native of the Cleveland/Chattanooga area who began his practice in 2000 and quickly distinguished himself as a surgeon with the skills and patient compassion that matched the philosophy of this office. In May 2006, Dr. Eyssen and Dr. vonWerssowetz were honored to add Dr. Chase to this practice.
James E. Eyssen
James E. Eyssen, M.D., FACS, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kentucky, and then moved to Memphis to earn his medical degree from the University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine. He completed his first year of residency at Memphis Methodist Hospital and was voted outstanding intern for the year. He completed a general surgery residence and a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
Dr. Eyssen is certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the Chattanooga/Hamilton County Medical Society.
Arthur J. vonWerssowetz
Arthur J. vonWerssowetz, M.D., FACS, graduated from the University of Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and then earned his medical degree from the University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine in Memphis. He completed a general surgery residency and then a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
Dr. vonWerssowetz is certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, The Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the Chattanooga/Hamilton County Medical Society.
Christopher W. Chase
Christopher W. Chase, M.D., FACS, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, graduating with high honors. He then earned his M.D. degree at James H. Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University. There Dr. Chase was president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, a member of the Admissions Committee, and graduated Salutatorian of his class. He then completed training in General Surgery at Erlanger Medical Center, Chattanooga, TN. Dr. Chase continued on to complete training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC.
Dr. Chase is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Tennessee Medical Association and the Chattanooga/Hamilton County Medical Society. He has published articles in prestigious medical journals such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Journal of Vascular Surgery, and The American Surgeon.
